I’m Ottavia. I study English at the University of Toronto. You might know me from my Twitter, or for my poems.

This Substack is my home for all the things I need to write about in long-form or else I’ll go insane. It’s also the home of Significant Otters, my interview series with writers about their new books—writers who (more importantly) happen to be Otters.

Before you ask, Otters are…like, you know how Taylor Swift fans are called Swifties? It’s like that, but for me. (I did not coin this term—my ego isn’t that big.)

Now, how does one become an Otter? Easy: subscribe to Things You Otter Know.

And I’ll tell you why: there’s something here for everyone. I don’t really have a niche. I write about music and also sports and also big moments in my life. Above all, I just like writing things I would want to read. And I have way more personality in my writing than in real life, so you should be very grateful.

Anyways. No pressure if you don’t want to. But all the cool kids are doing it.
